چکیده

Thirteen polyporphic microsatellite markers suitable for population genetic structure analysis and ABC transporter and signal transduction coding genes variation measurement were developed for rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe grisea. Polymorphism was evaluated by using forty-six isolates collected from diverse geographical locations and rice varieties. Preliminary results indicated that each locus resolved multiple alleles ranging from two to ten. There results showed that these SSR-containing genes are also polymorphic in the natural

Polymorphism of Microsatellite Sequence within Protein Kinase ORFs in Phytopathogenic Fungus, Magnaporthe Grisea

Eighteen polymorphic microsatellite markers suitable for population genetic studies and protein kinase encoding genic variation measurement were developed for rice blast fungus Magnaporthe grisea. Polymorphism was evaluated by using 46 isolates collected from diverse geographical locations and rice varieties. Preliminary results indicate that each locus harbors two to

A Magnaporthe grisea cyclophilin acts as a virulence determinant during plant infection.

Cyclophilins are peptidyl prolyl cis-trans isomerases that are highly conserved throughout eukaryotes and that are best known for being the cellular target of the immunosuppressive drug cyclosporin A (CsA). The activity of CsA is caused by the drug forming a complex with cyclophilin A and inhibiting the calmodulin-dependent phosphoprotein phosphatase calcineurin. We have investigated the role o...

Isolation, purification and characterization of an antifungal molecule produced by Bacillus licheniformis BC98, and its effect on phytopathogen Magnaporthe grisea.

AIMS Isolation of bacterial antagonist for use in the biological control of phytopathogenic fungi like rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe grisea, and to further purify and characterize the antifungal molecule produced by the antagonist. METHODS AND RESULTS Bacterial antagonist exhibiting highest antifungal activity against the rice blast fungus M. grisea was isolated from soil and identified as B...

A protein from the mold Aspergillus giganteus is a potent inhibitor of fungal plant pathogens.

A purified preparation of antifungal protein (AFP) from Aspergillus giganteus exhibited potent antifungal activity against the phytopathogenic fungi Magnaporthe grisea and Fusarium moniliforme, as well as the oomycete pathogen Phytophthora infestans. Under conditions of total inhibition of fungal growth, no toxicity of AFP toward rice protoplasts was observed. Additionally, application of AFP o...

Intracellular catalase/peroxidase from the phytopathogenic rice blast fungus Magnaporthe grisea: expression analysis and biochemical characterization of the recombinant protein.

Phytopathogenic fungi such as the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe grisea are unique in having two catalase/peroxidase (KatG) paralogues located either intracellularly (KatG1) or extracellularly (KatG2). The coding genes have recently been shown to derive from a lateral gene transfer from a (proteo)bacterial genome followed by gene duplication and diversification. Here we demonstrate that KatG1 is...
